What kind of man beats a smaller, weaker person who cannot give back as hard as is given? What man beats a woman so badly that she ends up in the emergency ward, or worse, in the morgue? What man takes out all his frustrations and stress on the woman who is his partner and his lover? The answer is it can be Anyman, your neighbor, your pastor, your attorney, your doctor. Men who beat women come from all levels of society. Often the ones at the top just don’t get put in jail as do the ones who cannot afford the pricey attorneys.
Wife beaters have a chip on their shoulders. They are forever being overlooked, underestimated, and underappreciated (in their estimation) . The have an inner rage which they control when they have to, at work, at social gatherings, at family gatherings. But when they are alone with their wife they lash out and use their spouses as scapegoats for all their failures. These men have very poor impulsive control and are narcissists. Their aggressive feelings seethe inside until they can boil over at home. Then their rage takes over and they lash out at that person who will take it.
These are men who will do whatever they can to isolate their wives from friends and family. This is part of their control pattern. They want their wives totally dependent on them and thus vulnerable, weak, and opportunities for inflicting punishment. They are clever monsters who instinctively realize when they have overplayed their hand and appear to be sorry and apologetic, promising to change, but also suggesting their wives have played a role in this drama as well. They know how to manipulate and push their wives’ buttons to get yet another chance to brutalize, maim, or even kill.
There is no typical profile of the victim they choose to batter because their wifes come from all walks of life. Their wife can be intelligent, beautiful, successful, and loving and still get the crap beat out of her on a regular basis. When the honeymoon is over, the violence starts to escalate. It starts out with doors slamming, kicking or punching holes in the wall, shaking the fist, and throwing items. Then the threats begin, what they are going to do if things do not change. They often accuse their wife of being attracted to other men, of keeping a dirty house, of not being supportive and encouraging. They posture, glare, and look evil and intimidating. If this does not drive their wife away, they take the next step.
It starts with a slap or a push. Then it’s a kick and a punch with a fist. Then a weapon comes out as a threat against telling about this. They start slowly but rapidly pick up steam, assaulting with furniture, breaking bones, smashing faces, and all the while their wifes are wondering what they might have done to deserve this.
Then the monster starts to say things like, “I’m so sorry, you know I really love you” or “You have to know you drive me to do this but I won’t do it anymore.” Then he repeats the assaults until his wife either dies, leaves, or is disabled for life. The likelihood of him ever spending a day in prison is so small that he dismisses it as a possibility.
In summary, wife beaters are spineless cowards who prey on the weak. They are basically inferior humans who should not even be given entry to that classification. There is no excuse for what they do, no matter how much they have suffered in their lifetime. It would be best if they were treated like vermin and contained or exterminated before they can take a life. They are to be watched carefully because they will move on to beating their children, their parents, or anyone else weak enough to be unable to fight back. If you know one, run in the other direction. They are poison and not worth a plug nickel. One can only hope they will receive swift justice when they leave this world and are faced with a Superior Being who can deal with them in an a manner appropriate to how they have destroyed the lives of others.
