Here’s a test you need to take to decide for yourself whether you have a real worry problem.
1. I have a real fear of dying.
2. I think I am eventually going to go crazy.
3. It seems clear to me that I cannot control my anxiety.
4. I tremble and shake when I worry.
5. I sweat and my hands get clammy when I’m upset.
6. My heart pounds and I get short of breath when I am worried.
7. Sometimes I am afraid to go places, even though I should go.
8. I’m afraid to be in tunnels, bridges, high buildings.
9. I have a real fear of flying.
10. I get nervous standing in line and being around strangers.
11. I think I must have anti anxiety medication to keep going.
12. My worries keep me awake at night.
13. I always think I am going to fail and be criticized.
14. I get terribly upset when I have to deal with a deadline.
15. I have to do things over and over again and get it right.
16. I can never believe a doctor telling me that I am fine.
17. I am a person who is preoccupied with being exposed to germs and illness.
18. I have this feeling that doom is just around the corner.
If you answered 1-6 questions yes, you have mild anxiety but it could get worse
If you answered 6-12 questions yes, you have a moderate anxiety level so be concerned.
If you answered 12-18 questions yes, you have a definite anxiety disorder and should be getting some help.
Worry when it’s excessive can really take over your life. It can ruin your chances to advance in a job, cause a divorce, make you unhappy just about all the time, and keep you from finding peace and happiness.
